Dharana Dhyana limbs 6 and 7 of Astanga Tree in my understanding.

Yogic philosophy is steeped in wisdom that is so very relevant and current to this modern world we live in. It is really here to help us, daily!

After many years of the study and the integration of the deeper meanings in my own words and understanding, I would like to share how it all translates out for me. Hopefully it will resonate with you. I never wanted the Yogic philosophy to intimidate as it holds such riches and wisdom for us all to behold!

Dharana and Dhyana are the 6th and 7th limb of the yoga tree, called Astanga.

Astanga meaning The eight limbs.

Dharana meaning concentration focus, essentially holding concentration in one direction until clarity arises. This however has deeper meanings which I will attempt to expand upon, again it is my personal take on it.

The act of holding attention is powerful. It is a space where magic happens. It is a space of creation. It is a space where we can transform our vibrational setting, which is everything to me.

Everything is vibrating in nature in our world but just at different frequencies. A rock, nature things that seem solid are all emitting a vibrational frequency as we do.

These frequencies can be adjusted accordingly. But it takes consciousness to awaken to this power (yes Power) available to all of us. To hold the attention and create a clear focus is like clearing space for us to create and re create our selves and elevate our vibration.

We have heard and used many times the words, good vibrations (The Bee Gees song) as we innately know how good vibes and bad vibes FEEL. Yes FEEL. Feelings are the language of vibration. Our feelings tell us when we are vibing high or sinking low, not necessarily emotions, as emotions can lie sometimes. Vibrational literacy.

We feel energy whether we are awakened to it or not, theres where the magic lies. We can adjust our vibration just like attuning to a radio station. One tiny adjustment can get you there. When we practice Dharana (focus) it can clear our mind, hearts and vibration it then transmutes into Dhyana (meditation) as they go hand in hand. We can live simply live in a meditative state, which is calm alertness.

Dharana can help us locate that dimension of meditation which is really just an open timeless space where we sit and vibrationally cleanse re set clear and connect to the divine forces all around us, here to help us available to all of us.

Just like the radio tuning in analogy. When we focus and fine tune ourselves onto YOGA FM VIBE HIGH station, clarity comes! We receive inspiration, intuition flows and guides us answers appear. We can all relate to these moments right?

We return to the yoga mat for these jewels not just the ‘exercise, tension releasing breathing, ‘me time’ that Yoga Asana class also presents as. But you have shifted your vibration into the higher realm and we notice how our day or in general our life relationships flow out from there. The Flow State.

Meditation is focus, and focus is meditation, one is not separate from the other!

So these two divine limbs are sisters, interconnected one of the same.

We then experience the energy where we have quietened the mind, and opened the heart. We unlock where we are stuck. We get back to our true essence. We vibrate higher and therefore attract that which is resonating with our vibration. Better life circumstances, better relationships, we see things we did not see before! We can then choose more appropriately to that which supports us, serves our highest good, naturally with ease and effortlessness. Cleanse your vibration daily (yoga, nature, nourishing foods, music, rest, our pet’s, good company.)

Vibe high people!
